The Easton Archery Center of Excellence Hosts the 2016 SoCal Showdown from June 23-26

San Diego, Calif. May 11, 2016 – The Easton Foundations announces the 2016 SoCal Showdown to be hosted at the Easton Archery Center of Excellence in Chula Vista, Calif. from Thursday, June 23 through Saturday, June 25, and the gold medal finals occurring on Sunday, June 26 at the annual San Diego County Fair. This U.S. Archery national ranking event aims to have 600 participants compete to be a member of the elite U.S. National Teams. Participation is open to any member of USA Archery. The cost to participate is $150 (early) / $200 (late) and entries for registration must be submitted by Friday, June 10, 2016.

Sponsored by Arizona Archery Enterprises, Inc., the SoCal Showdown official practice day kicks off the weekend-long event on Thursday, June 23. The preliminary competition days are free for spectators to attend and watch athletes go head to head, arrow for arrow, in their pursuit of the gold medal. Many seasoned archers competing are Olympians, World Cup Champions and U.S. National Team Members.

The event culminates with the Individual Gold Medal Matches on Sunday, June 26 with archers competing for gold in front of the grandstands of the Del Mar Race Track at the San Diego County Fair. Please note, there is a cost to attend this event. Discounted tickets to the fair are available for purchase during registration and include full access to the fair festivities and finals matches.

SoCal Showdown is a unique opportunity for both cadet and senior archers to compete in a World Cup or Olympic-like experience, as well as a chance to bring archery to the masses and raise awareness of the sport as Team USA heads into the Olympic Games in August 2016.

2016 SoCal Showdown Schedule
** NOTE: The following events from Thursday, June 23 through Saturday, June 25 will be at the Easton Archery Center of Excellence on the campus of the U.S. Olympic Training Center at 2800 Olympic Parkway, Chula Vista, Calif., 91915. Free admission for spectators.**

  • Thursday, June 23 – Official practice available on all fields from 12-noon to 5 p.m. Check-in and equipment inspection available at each practice field from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Friday, June 24 – Qualifications, Team Rounds and Bronze Medal Matches
  • Saturday, June 25 – Olympic Round Matches, Bronze Medal Matches, Archery Festival and Team Finals
  • Sunday, June 26 – Olympic Round Finals at the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar. Discounted tickets to the fair are available for purchase during registration and include full access to the fair festivities and finals matches.
