WHAT: Serving Seniors (formerly Senior Community Centers) will celebrate the National Day of Caring with a game day with seniors in partnership with the CareFusion Foundation. Volunteers will facilitate a game day to include activities for seniors from Wii bowling, dominoes and ping pong tournaments. There will also be a post tournament awards ceremony acknowledge the seniors who took the top positions in the games.

EXPECTED ATTENDANCE: Approx. 200 seniors will attend event; 50 seniors participating
WHY: Since 1970, Serving Seniors’ (formerly known as Senior Community Centers) innovative solutions have helped San Diego seniors struggling with poverty and hunger. The organization provides 535,000 meals each year to their clients, as well as delivers “wrap-around” wellness services, to take care of senior health, mental health, advocacy and housing needs. Programs and events like the National Day of Caring Game Day provides an opportunity for seniors to stay active and engaged, which plays a very important role in their overall health and wellbeing.
