On the evening of Saturday, Oct. 2, approximately 800 guests enjoyed a special fundraising concert “Megan Hilty Under the Stars,” starring Broadway bombshell Megan Hilty. This one-night event is estimated to have raised $42,000 for Moonlight Cultural Foundation, and proceeds will support arts education programs for youth and adults, foster engagement of new audiences, and increase student/educator participation in the artistic process.”
Under the night sky, concert-goers experienced an outstanding performance at the Moonlight Stage Amphitheatre. Hilty sang and her powerhouse vocals as well as her affable rapport captivated the Moonlight audience. Hilty was also joined on stage by Celeste Butler, a student from Moonlight Youth Theatre during the benefit concert. The duo sang “For Good” from Wicked, of which Hilty starred in the Broadway production.
“We would like to thank Megan Hilty for giving one of our Moonlight Youth Theatre participants an opportunity to join her on stage. This benefit concert not only helped raise awareness of arts education programs but also helped our aspiring young actors get closer to pursuing their dreams,” said Toria Watson, executive director, Moonlight Cultural Foundation.
Guests who purchased our VIP Package got the treat of a post-show meet and greet with Hilty. They sipped on champagne, noshed on a gourmet dessert, and had an exclusive photo op with Hilty.
Hilty rose to prominence for her roles in several Broadway musicals, including her performance as Glinda in “Wicked” and her portrayal of Doralee Rhodes in “9 to 5: The Musical.” Her best known role was as Ivy Lynn on the musical-drama TV series “Smash,” on which she sang many original songs, including the Grammy Award-nominated “Let Me Be Your Star.”
