SAN DIEGO – April 19, 2011 – The Honorable Susan Golding, CEO and president of Promises2Kids announces the foundation’s annual outdoor Promises Summer Concert Gala featuring three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning artists The Doobie Brothers on Mon., June 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the estate of Joan Waitt, honorary co-chair, in La Jolla, Calif. All proceeds from the event benefit Promises2Kids, a San Diego-based non-profit dedicated to breaking the cycle of child abuse through prevention, education and advocacy.

The Doobie Brothers have been entertaining fans with their “soul-infused boogie rock” and remarkable group harmonies for more than four decades. Currently on the Doobie Brothers North America Tour 2011, the band’s memorable hits such as “China Grove” and “Black Water” can still be heard on round-the-clock rotation on both oldies and classic rock stations.

Rocking out under the stars, attendees will get up close and personal with The Doobie Brothers while enjoying breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean at the beautiful, private estate of Joan Waitt. The evening features an elegant sit down dinner prepared by the chefs from the Hyatt Regency La Jolla.

Guests can bid on a number of one-of-a-kind silent and live auction packages, including a sneak peek dinner for 12 to Brian Malarkey’s new Asian-inspired restaurant Burlap, two tickets to the upcoming Grand Slam tennis tournaments – the Australian Open, the Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and US Open. There are also two orchestra level VIP tickets including round trip limo service to the American Music Awards on November 20, 2011, and a four-night stay in a one-bedroom Beach Cottage at GoldenEye Hotel & Resort in Oracabessa, St. Mary, Jamaica.

“We look forward to an unforgettable evening and raising money to help abused, neglected and abandoned children,” says Rocio Flynn who co-chairs the Summer Concert Gala event with her husband Michael. “Last year’s event with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo raised nearly $375,000 toward breaking the cycle of child abuse,” adds Golding. “This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and through the communities support we are able to continue our efforts to prevent child abuse and provide support for abused and neglected children.”

Donating sponsors for the event include Bridgepoint EducationRedfearn & AssociatesCubic Corporation, and Gatto, Pope & Walwick LLP.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.promises2kids.org for $350 per person for general admission, $500 for the VIP reception, and $3,500 for a bronze sponsorship. For tickets or more information about the event and sponsorship opportunities, please call Promises2Kids at 858-427-1112.
