We are seeking a self-driven, entrepreneurial-minded, and talented Content Specialist to join our agency. The ideal teammate will provide experience managing multiple day-to-day clients and agency requests for content creation to support media relations, marketing, digital and social media, and general client services. Experience working in an agency or media outlet and thriving in a fast-paced, creative environment is preferred. Excellent writing, communication (both written/oral) and project management skills are a must. This teammate will need to reside in Southern California.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Work in tandem with our team to manage day-to-day activities for clients in a variety of industries, but primarily philanthropy and corporate companies that are making a positive change in local communities. Translate client goals and brand strategies into clear, compelling content across audiences and channels. Negotiate and manage client expectations and satisfaction.
  • Provide strategic input to our team and clients around awareness to conversion campaigns as well as email audience segmentation, personalization, personas, and more.
  • Works closely with creative teams since we believe that content and design work hand in hand to create the best outcomes.
  • Develop the persona, set the voice, tone, and messaging strategies, providing thoughtful content reflective of the target audience and brand voice.
  • Manages the design, production, and distribution of e-blasts and other promotional materials, including internet or Web materials, blog posts, website copy, event invitations, newsletter articles, press releases, advertisements, catalogs, brochures, flyers, signage, a/v presentations, displays, exhibits, etc.
  • Support our clients’ main channels of content communication (i.e. website, social, digital advertising, etc.) through content creation and SEO strategy. You will also partner on strategy creation and managing these channels with others on the Scatena Daniels team.
  • Tactical understanding and successful daily/weekly use of primary social media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.). Stay current on all digital content trends across channels and share knowledge with the team.
  • Conduct research to formulate ideas that support engaging and targeted content.
  • Write and develop various types of media and marketing content and copy which follows best practices. The copy should be exciting, engaging, and drives results. This copy has a wide range of uses, such as press kits, press releases, media alerts, media pitches, fact sheets, bios, case studies, backgrounders, commentary articles, opinion pieces, advertorials, broadcast copy, scripts, social media, newsletters, community award opportunities and more. 
  • Be adept at working in platforms from Sprout Social, ContentCal, HootSuite to HubSpot, Mail Chimp, Survey Monkey, Canva, Adobe, Zoom, Harvest, and more. Our clients use many different platforms, and it’s important that this person be comfortable going in and out of different CRMs and platforms, including natively on social channels.
  • Capacity to run reports in social media tools, email automation platform, and Google Analytics, present findings to the client and explain what those results mean when compared alongside their marketing goals.
  • Ability to identify visuals (photos, videos, graphics, etc.) that will be needed to support media pitching and placements; and possess some basic knowledge of video production and editing, including hands-on experience in recording high-res video with a smartphone and basic editing (or the willingness to learn how to do this). 
  • Ability to self-manage, prioritize, and communicate progress when working on multiple projects. Ensure that internal processes are followed.
  • Actively participate in recommended professional development and networking opportunities.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with 3-5 years of professional experience as a content creator. Completion of a certificate program in related fields will be considered.
  • We are looking for someone who has had agency experience, is an excellent communicator, thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, and has the discipline and skills to work in a remote or hybrid environment. Working in journalism/multimedia is also a plus.
  • Experience working with multiple projects at once while maintaining good organization and meeting deadlines.
  • True self-starter and be comfortable working directly with clients and C-level executives, engaging directly to ask questions, solve problems, and move projects forward.
  • Excellent critical thinking/problem-solving skills; strong judgment and the ability to make decisions independently, as well as communicate strategic sound recommendations to clients, peers, and management in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
  • Have a growth mindset, and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to translate brand strategies into clear, compelling content across audiences and channels.
  • A passion for language, a love of writing, and a demonstrated ability to create narratives; attention to writing detail, including flow, grammar, and style. Knowledge and use of AP Style is important.
  • Adept at creating creative briefs that outline a content strategy behind the project: always asking “Who is this for?” “What CTA is best, given our other campaigns?” “What about this piece drives value?”
  • Familiarity working in print, ranging from brochures to postcards to magazines.
  • Understanding of visual assets needed (i.e., photos, videos/b-roll), to accompany media relations outreach and marketing promotion.
  • Excel in your attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of writing across and working in digital platforms, including social, email, SMS, Google Ads, blogs, SEO, websites, landing pages, and more.
  • Has outlined, researched, drafted, and owned revisions for content such as:
  • Basic graphic design experience or desire to learn. Knowledge of Canva is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (particularly GMail, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and working experience using cloud file storage and document sharing.
