A bi-national hub for culture and academics
Overview
UC San Diego Park & Market is a $75 million, 66,000 sq. ft. center for civic, cultural and educational programming, which aims to serve the community in an unprecedented way. The four-story hub in the East Village neighborhood of San Diego is home to several philanthropic organizations and university-affiliated groups and is an extension of the world-class university in the heart of the city.
Challenge
The COVID-19 pandemic and its related supply-chain issues postponed the opening of Park & Market multiple times. When it was time to hold the grand opening, Scatena Daniels and the Park & Market team had a limited timeframe to execute a comprehensive marketing communications strategy designed to build excitement and gain credibility among key stakeholders and the public at large while keeping momentum in the months after the opening.
Results
Our communication agency’s efforts have resulted in ongoing media coverage of Park & Market’s long-awaited grand opening, local and high-profile events and new tenant leases. Additionally, our team coordinated a virtual tour scan of the building, making it easy for the public to view its features remotely.
Scatena Daniels continues to support Park & Market on an ongoing basis providing communications and PR support including monthly newsletters and news releases, website and blog copy, media relations, social media marketing, content marketing strategy, and so much more. We are an integrated extension to their in-house team providing seamless collaboration and implementation as we continue to position the building as a centralized hub for arts and culture in downtown San Diego.
