There’s plenty to celebrate here at Scatena Daniels this Spring–not only did we take home Best in Show honors at the Health Care Communicators of Southern California’s Finest Awards, but we also won our first-ever national award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), a Bronze Anvil at the 80th Annual Anvil Awards.
Our team earned our Bronze Anvil for the extensive public response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade that we orchestrated on behalf of Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties (PPOSBC). When the Supreme Court announced its decision, we developed a comprehensive media relations plan allowing PPOSBC to participate in a record number of media opportunities–including an interview with Good Morning America.
The national exposure and consistent regional media coverage gained through high-profile thought leadership placements positioned PPOSBC as undeniable leaders in the fight for reproductive rights. As a major bonus, our campaign also resulted in two anonymous $1 million donations to PPOSBC.
This is our first PRSA award win on a national level, and we couldn’t be happier that it was earned doing work for such an incredibly vital organization like Planned Parenthood.
What this Award Means for the Public Relations Agency in San Diego
The PRSA Annual Anvil Awards set the industry standard for excellence and have long been considered the benchmark for outstanding performance in public relations. Our Bronze Anvil Award for Media Relations for Nonprofit Organizations is a formal recognition of the extraordinary contribution our specific public relations tactics made to the success of an overall campaign.
“We’re a boutique public relations agency in San Diego, but we have never felt like that should stop us from reaching incredible heights. The national recognition of the PRSA Anvil Award is a testament to our amazing team and the strategy and process we’ve honed over the past 15 years,” said Arika Daniels, co-CEO and founding partner, Scatena Daniels. “Award wins feel great, but the true joy of our work is knowing we are furthering the message and supporting the mission of an organization as important as Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties.”
This award win is a perfect way for Scatena Daniels to celebrate our 15th year in business, serving more than 100 healthcare, education, and nonprofit organizations in San Diego, Orange County, and beyond. And believe us, our work has only just begun.
“There’s probably no better way to ring in our 15th year than with this massive award win,” said Daniels. “Here’s to many more years of amplifying stories that matter.”
